Department of Marketing

Assistant (Tenure-Track), Associate, or Full Professor

Position
The Department of Marketing in the College of Business at The University of Texas at San Antonio seeks applicants for two or three positions beginning Spring 2014 or Fall 2014, pending budget approval. All levels—Assistant (Tenure-Track), Associate, or Full will be considered. Preference will be given to candidates with a scholarly focus on behavioral research. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate, master’s, or Ph.D. courses, in addition to research and service. Tenure is contingent upon Board of Regents approval.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications (Assistant Professor rank): (1) Ph.D. in marketing or a related discipline. ABD candidates making suitable progress toward a Ph.D. will be considered, (2) strong evidence or promise of scholarly research and effective teaching, and (3) the ability and desire to work collegially with faculty and students from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Required Qualifications (Associate and Full Professor ranks): (1) Ph.D. in marketing or a related discipline, (2) substantial and continuing program of high-quality research published in high-impact, peer-reviewed scholarly journals, (3) evidence of effective teaching, (4) the ability and desire to work collegially with faculty and students from diverse cultural backgrounds, and (5) the ability and desire to take a leadership role in service.

Department of Marketing
The department consists of 12 tenured and tenure-track faculty positions and offers undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degrees with a concentration in marketing. Between 2005 and 2013, the department was ranked No. 58 based on UT-Dallas Top 100 research rankings
of the following publications: JCR, JMR, JM, MKS.

UTSA
The College of Business at UTSA is one of the 40 largest business schools in the nation, is AACSB accredited, offers a variety of master’s programs as well as Ph.D. programs in six areas, and ranks second in the nation in the number of bachelor’s degrees awarded to Hispanics. UTSA is a comprehensive public metropolitan university that serves approximately 32,000 students on three campuses in San Antonio. It has the express goal of reaching a Tier One research status. It is located at the edge of the scenic Texas Hill Country and offers the amenities of a major multicultural, metropolitan area. With a population of over 1.14 million San Antonio is within a few hours drive of Austin, Dallas, Houston, the Gulf of Mexico and the Mexican border.

Full Professor / Department Chair

Position
The Department of Marketing in the College of Business at The University of Texas at San Antonio seeks applicants for a tenured, Full Professor position including responsibilities as Department Chair beginning Fall 2014.

Qualifications for Full Professor

  • Required Qualifications: (1) Ph.D. in marketing or a related discipline, (2) a nationally-recognized body of quality scholarly research sufficient to merit the rank of full professor in the department, (3) evidence of service demonstrating peer-recognized leadership to the university, the profession, and the community as appropriate for the discipline, (4) evidence of success in teaching, (5) strong leadership skills, (6) resourcefulness in promoting an effective research and learning environment, and (7) strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Preferred Qualifications: (1) skill and experience in promoting collegiality among a diverse faculty, (2) skill and experience in representing and advocating the interests of an academic group, (3) experience working in diverse cultural settings,
    (4) experience in working with doctoral students, and (5) competence in fiscal planning/budgeting and management.

Department of Marketing
The department consists of 12 tenured and tenure-track faculty positions and offers undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degrees with a concentration in marketing. The Ph.D. program is in its seventh year and currently has 11 full-time students.
