Department of Management
The Department of Management in the College of Business at The University of Texas at San Antonio seeks applicants for three tenure-track positions beginning Fall 2015. Preferred specializations are (1) Organizational Behavior/Human Resource Management, (2) Strategic Management and (3) Entrepreneurship. The rank for the OB/HR and Strategic Management positions can be either Assistant Professor or Associate Professor. The rank for the Entrepreneurship position is Assistant Professor. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate, master’s and/or Ph.D. courses. Successful applicants must demonstrate high-quality scholarly research and publications and ability to teach general management courses as well as courses in the specialty area.
Qualifications for Assistant Professor
- Required Qualifications for Assistant Professor: (1) Ph.D. in management or a closely-related discipline, ABD candidates making suitable progress toward a Ph.D. will be considered, (2) potential to conduct or a record of high-quality scholarly research and other scholarly contributions that are consistent with appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, (3) potential to succeed in teaching and professional service activities, (4) strong verbal and written communication skills, and (5) the ability and desire to work collegially with faculty and students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Preferred Qualifications: (1) Ph.D. from a College of Business with AACSB accreditation, and (2) skill, experience and the desire to teach and mentor students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Qualifications for Associate Professor
- Required Qualifications: (1) Ph.D. in management or a closely-related discipline, (2) a strong and consistent record of high-quality scholarly research and publications and other scholarly contributions sufficient to merit the rank of Associate Professor in the department, (3) national and/or international recognition in the field of management, (4) demonstrated success in teaching and professional service, (5) excellent verbal and written communication skills, and (6) the ability and desire to work collegially with faculty and students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Preferred Qualifications: (1) Ph.D. from a College of Business with AACSB accreditation, (2) demonstrated ability to contribute to our doctoral program, and (3) successful MBA teaching experience.
UTSA’s Department of Management
The department consists of 14 tenured and tenure-track faculty members and offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in management and human resource management and an undergraduate concentration in international business. The Ph.D. program is in its 12th year and currently has 14 full-time students including three students who are starting the program in Fall 2014.
Our department has a strong research focus, in line with UTSA’s objective of becoming a Tier One research university. We offer an environment that supports faculty research. Research active faculty have a 2/2 teaching load (i.e., they teach 2 courses per long semester, with no required teaching in the summer). Our faculty members are publishing in the top journals in the field including AMJ, AMR, ASQ, JAP, JIBS, Journal of Management, Management Science, OBHDP, Organizational Research Methods, Org Science, Personnel Psychology and SMJ.

The College of Business at UTSA is one of the 30 largest business schools in the nation, is AACSB accredited, offers a variety of master’s programs as well as Ph.D. programs in six areas, and ranks second in the nation in the number of bachelor’s degrees awarded to Hispanics. UTSA is a comprehensive public metropolitan university that serves approximately 29,000 students on three campuses in San Antonio. It has the express goal of reaching a Tier One research status.
