College of Business Faculty and Business
Associate Professor or Professor
Position: The Department of Finance at The University of Texas at San Antonio invites applications for the position of an Associate Professor / Professor beginning Fall 2013, pending budget approval.  Salary and supporting start-up package are competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Responsibilities include teaching at the undergraduate, master’s, and Ph.D. levels, conducting scholarly research, and service.  Tenure is contingent upon Board of Regents approval.

Required Qualifications: (1) Ph.D. in Finance or a related discipline, (2) substantial and continuing program of high-quality finance research published in high impact, peer-reviewed scholarly journals commensurate with the desired rank, (3) evidence of effective teaching and an interest in teaching at the Ph.D. level, (4) commitment to directing doctoral research projects and working with faculty and students from diverse backgrounds, and (5) the ability and desire to contribute to the service requirements of the institution. 

UTSA: San Antonio, the seventh largest city in the United States, is a vibrant and ethnically diverse city offering a variety of cultural and recreational activities. San Antonio is located at the edge of the Texas Hill Country and offers amenities of a major multicultural, metropolitan area. UTSA is a comprehensive public metropolitan university serving approximately 32,000 students and is the third largest institution in the University of Texas System. It has the expressed goal of reaching a Carnegie Classification of doctoral/research extensive (Carnegie I).  The university has seen an extraordinary expansion of its graduate programs, particularly at the doctoral level.

College of Business: The College of Business (COB) is one of the 40 largest business schools in the nation with an enrollment of approximately 6,000 undergraduate and graduate students. The COB is AACSB accredited and currently has six doctoral programs including one in finance (see, http://business.utsa.edu/ ).  In addition to the Ph.D. program, the Department of Finance offers undergraduate and graduate programs in finance and in real estate. The department has 10 highly active research faculty.

Assistant (Tenure-Track) or Associate Professor
Position:
The Department of Finance at The University of Texas at San Antonio invites applications for the position of an Assistant Professor (Tenure-Track) or Associate Professor beginning Fall 2013, pending budget approval.  Salary and supporting start-up package are competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Preference will be given to applicants with scholarly focus on financial institutions.  Responsibilities include teaching at the undergraduate, master’s, and Ph.D. levels, conducting scholarly research, and service.  Tenure is contingent upon Board of Regents approval.

Qualifications:

  • Required Qualifications (Assistant Professor rank): (1) Ph.D. in Finance or a related discipline, (2) strong evidence or promise of scholarly research and effective teaching, and (3) the ability and desire to work collegially with faculty and students from diverse background.   Preferred Qualifications: Scholarly training and/or research in the area of financial institutions.  Ability to teach in this area.
