UTSA's Ph.D. in Business Administration includes emphasis in five traditional business areas: accounting, finance,
information technology, marketing, and organization and management studies. The primary focus of the program is to prepare qualified candidates for academic careers in teaching and research, graduates are also qualified to hold government and industry positions. the market for business Ph.D.'s is strong. Data suggests that there will be a robust demand for faculty in schools of business

Our admission process is very competitive. The departmental committees conduct a holistic review of each applicant’s
materials taking all factors into consideration – there is no one sole criterion used for admission or denial. The average
GMAT score of our Ph.D. students is 670 total and the average GRE score is 1250. The average masters’ level GPA for
entering students is over 3.75.
