Entrepreneurship Professorship Established in Memory of Melvin Lachman

A $500,000 distinguished professorship has been established in entrepreneurship in the UTSA College of Business in memory of Melvin Lachman, a San Antonio businessman and entrepreneur. Lachman, who passed away in 2005, was known not only as a successful businessman, but also as someone who helped others build businesses as well.

Team Developing and Marketing Laparoscopic Kidney Cooling Technology Wins UTSA Entrepreneurship Competition

Lapara Medical Inc., a team comprised of four engineering students and three business students who developed a prototype laparoscopic cooling device for kidney surgery and wrote a business plan to market the technology, triumphed this weekend at the $100,000 Student Technology Venture Competition, presented by the UTSA Center for Innovation and Technology Entrepreneurship (CITE).

Undergrads Contend for $100,000 in Cash and Prizes in Technology Start-up Competition

Six University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) teams comprised of business and engineering students will compete for $100,000 in cash and business-related services at the $100,000 Student Technology Venture Competition, hosted by the UTSA Center for Innovation and Technology Entrepreneurship (CITE) on Saturday, December 1. Competitors will be scored on the viability of their proprietary new technologies and the business plans they developed to market those technologies.
