In addition to university and college scholarships, the Department of Accounting has separately awarded scholarships to their students for the past 26 years.

Every fall students may apply for scholarships by picking up an application at the Department of Accounting office (BB 4.01.12). For 2008, the deadline to submit applications is Friday, September 19. Applications are available at the beginning of the fall semester. Scholarships are disbursed the following spring.

Scholarship recipients are recognized at the Annual Scholarships & Awards Banquet, held in November, where they have the opportunity to meet the benefactor of their scholarship. This event celebrates the superior academic achievements of UTSA accounting students and alumni. In 2007, 21 students received scholarships totaling more than $30,000.

To apply, students must meet the following criteria:

1. Must be currently enrolled full-time at UTSA (12 hours undergraduate, 9 hours graduate) as either a declared undergraduate accounting major or in either the MS Accounting/ Master of Accountancy program.
   
   
2. All scholarship winners must be enrolled with at least 12 hours (9 hours graduate) at time of full scholarship disbursement in spring '09. 
   
   
3. Complete and sign application. Application may be picked up at the Department of Accounting Office (BB 4.01.12).
   
   
4. Applications must be returned to the Department of Accounting (BB 4.01.12) by 5 p.m. on Friday, September 19.
   
   
5. All finalists will be required to participate in a short interview with members of the Scholarship Committee.
   
   
6. All finalists are required to attend the Accounting Scholarships & Awards Banquet held in November.
