Amber Rudolph Named Outstanding Accounting Alumnus for 2011
 Amber Rudolph, ’95, was named the Outstanding Accounting Alumnus of the Year at the 30th annual Department of Accounting Scholarship and Awards Celebration in October. With 16 years of experience in auditing, financial reporting and accounting, Rudolph has worked with small privately held corporations and large multinational SEC registered companies. She also has significant experience with U.S. GAAP and U.S. GAAS. She is the director of internal audit at Pioneer Drilling Company.
Joining Pioneer Drilling Company in April 2010, Rudolph manages audit engagements for the public company, assists the company with process improvement and conducts annual risk assessments. Prior to her work at Pioneer Drilling Company, she worked for 15 years at Ernst & Young, LLP in San Antonio and completed her tenure there as the audit senior manager.
A certified public accountant, she is a member of the Chief Audit Executive Roundtable and serves on the Audit Committee for the Girl Scouts of Greater South Texas. An active supporter of UTSA, she is also a member of the UTSA College of Business Accounting Advisory Board. Professionally, Rudolph is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors, Texas Society of CPAs and the American Institute of CPAs.
Carol Severyn Named 2010 Outstanding Accounting Alumnus
 Carol Severyn, '92, CPA, CFIRS, CRP, executive vice president and auditor at Frost Bank, was named the Outstanding Accounting Alumnus of the Year.
Severyn, a member of the Department of Accounting Advisory Board, received her award from Department Chair Jim Groff during the department's annual Accounting Stars luncheon.
Severyn leads internal audit, information technology audit and compliance functions for the commercial banking, investment banking, retail brokerage, insurance and fiduciary activities of Frost. She is an ardent supporter of the department speaking in accounting classes and actively working to recruit UTSA students.
Nancy Ozuna, '93, MPA'95, was named the recipient of the Department of Accounting 2009 Outstanding Alumnus of the Year award.
 Ozuna is a partner at BKD, LLP. Her specialty is in auditing employee benefit plans. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants, the San Antonio Chapter of Certified Public Accounts, the UTSA Alumni Association and the UTSA Accounting Advisory Board.
The UTSA Department of Accounting recognizes the accomplishments of accounting alumni by awarding the Outstanding Alumni award each year at the annual Scholarships and Awards Reception held in the fall. Individuals are chosen based on their career accomplishments and their active participation and support of the department, college and UTSA.
Outstanding Alumnus Award
 Jim Bodenstedt ,'96, chief operating officer and chief financial officer of R&L Foods Inc., received the 2008 Department of Accounting Outstanding Alumni Award.
Bodenstedt and his wife, Cathy, founded MUY Brands LLC in 2003, which consists of 18 Taco Bell and KFC restaurants in West Texas and Corpus Christi. Every year since the founding they have increased the number of restaurants acquired. In 2008 they were named as one of the Top 50 Yum Brands Inc. franchises with a total of 95 restaurants.
Bodenstedt is responsible for managing over 3,000 MUY Brands and 2,000 R&L employees in the areas of restaurant operations, marketing, financing, new restaurant development and remodeling.
A true friend to the department, he is an annual participant in the Kathleen Reymann Keil Memorial Golf Tournament, has been a major contributor to the Russell Briner Memorial Scholarship Fund and is a past member of the College of Business Advisory Council.
